Abstract. Renewable energy is one of the fundamental elements of balanced development. Developed countries and countries aspiring to become modern see the necessity to reduce the amount of pollution from the process of burning of  fuels and the necessity to seek alternative sources of energy, facing the economic and physical diminishing of fossil fuels. The use of renewable sources of energy is one of the most effective methods of reduction of carbon dioxide emission.

Keywords: renewable energy, the European Union to renewable energy sources, priorities for the Polish energy market, capital for investment, financing wind power.
